The body butter is a skin moisturizer that typically contains cocoa butter, coconut oil or another vegetable-based oil. It’s thicker than lotions and is extra effective at rejuvenating dry skin, whether used all over or only on problem patches, such as elbows and knees. The best time to apply is just after your daily shower to lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated all day and night before bed.

What is a body butter?

The body butter is a body moisturizing cream.  It is designed to provide intense, long-lasting moisturizing for your skin. There are many types of body butter on the market but at Spoiled Naturally, we recommend body butter that is natural and free of harsh chemicals. Also, the ingredients in your body butter should contribute to healthy skin.

The body butter is composed primarily of oils and butter. Many of these natural oils and butter’s can penetrate the surface of the skin to help nourish and condition skin. The result is skin that is visibly smoother and silky soft. When included in your daily skin care regime, there simply is no comparison

Body butter benefits:

  • Deep penetrating
  • Ultra-moisturizing
  • Skin Nourishing

Directions

  1. Place cocoa butter and coconut oil in a glass bowl or measuring cup inside a saucepan. The saucepan should have enough water in it that the water touches the bottom of your glass double boiler, but doesn’t spill out.
  2. Over medium heat, whisk the oils together until they are melted and combined.
  3. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  4. Stir in essential oils.
  5. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  6. Gently transfer to a sealable jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.

2nd Body Butter Recipe

This is a recipe by one of my friend’s

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil in a glass bowl or measuring cup inside a saucepan. The saucepan should have enough water in it that the water touches the bottom of your glass double boiler, but doesn’t spill out.
  2. Over medium heat, whisk the oils together until they are melted and combined.
  3. The mixture will go from white to semi-clear when ready.
  4. Refrigerate melted oils for an hour or until white and solid.
  5. With an electric hand mixer, beat the oils until they are fluffy like whipped cream. Add essential oils and beat to incorporate.
  6. Fill your desired container with the whipped body butter and refrigerate another hour.

Notes: This body butter will keep about 6 months at room temperature. It may soften in warm weather because of the coconut oil. If this happens it can be stored in the refrigerator.

How do I use body butter?

Simply I state, use body butter the same way you would use body lotion. The body butter is designed for use all over the body. Many people avoid using body butter on the face simply because sometimes the face does not respond kindly to heavy oils the way your body does. The body butter then gets to work quenching thirsty skin and leaving behind skin that is soft and silky smooth. For best results, I recommend using body butter immediately after showering when your pores and skin are the most receptive to moisturizing and conditioning agents.

Step 1:

Take your daily shower or bath as usual. After you’ve finished, pat your body dry with a clean towel. Do not rub or dry yourself completely; leave a little moisture on your skin.

Step 2:

Apply a consistent amount of body butter directly to your skin — don’t use too much or your skin could get greasy. Rub it in gently, using firm, broad strokes, until the body butter is fully absorbed.

Step 3:

Pay particular attention to your feet, hands, elbows, and knees, regions that tend to get particularly dry or calloused. Apply a second layer of body butter on these problem areas for the best results.

Step 4:

Apply body butter just before bedtime to help soften the skin on your hands and feet. Apply a layer of body butter, then cover up with cotton socks or gloves. it works great at night time.
